Bettering Our Community, Together
From water safety to literacy, disease prevention to sports, summer camp to afterschool tutoring, everything our Y does is in service of making us – as individuals and a community – better.
But we can’t do it alone, we need your help. YMCA donors, volunteers, members and partners like you make the difference. When you give to the Y, every dollar donated stays local and helps us reach more kids and families through life-changing programs and services focused on addressing critical community needs. Your gift helps our Y.
Community Rewards Program
Annual Support Campaign Auction
For generations, the Garden City Family YMCA has been about Healthy Living, Social Responsibility and Youth Development. We remain true to our Mission and we appreciate you helping us Social Responsibility aspect. Nearly everyone can recount a meaningful experience that they have had at our YMCA, but no stories compare to a recipient who has received help through our Helping Hands Scholarship Program. Most of our team members have had people cry on their shoulders from the joy they have because of the assistance they received to help them attend their favorite program or to come use the YMCA. There are so many stories that we would love to share with you, but the most important story is the dollars you could help raise for our program. Our Annual Support Campaign Auction was started in 2018 as a way to generate more awareness with our members inside the YMCA. With Covid this year, we decided to utilize our website to drive more people to view our website and continue our awareness for our ASC. The items listed below will have a picture of the product at the YMCA for members to view and bid on as well.
The YMCA relies heavily on contributions to drive our mission. Every year, we raise money for our Helping Hands Scholarship program. We welcome and appreciate your help. We know it is hard to ask for money, especially during these tough and busy times, but we can assure you that there are many rewards in volunteering and helping the community. You rarely get to witness what we get to see on a regular basis, but it gives you that warm, fuzzy feeling knowing that you helped a great cause.
There is not a day that goes by that somebody does not benefit from this program. I can tell you many heart-wrenching stories that will bring tears to your eyes. Thank you for your time and for helping the YMCA. We appreciate your support for our YMCA!
The auction is typically held at the beginning of our Annual Support Campaign. For 2021, our Auction will tentatively begin October 15 and run until November 30. As we get closer to the dates, we will post the items here for you to see.
ABOUT THE RAFFLE
The Garden City Family YMCA launched an exciting fundraiser involving weekly cash payouts for all 17 weeks of the NFL football season. The fundraiser, titled NFL Raffle, gives each ticket holder a unique letter-number combination corresponding to three NFL teams. The code stays the same, but the teams that each letter or number represents changes each week. Ticket holders cannot choose their teams; the codes are randomly generated. At the end of each week, ticket holders with the highest total cumulative points for each of their three teams will win cash prizes. A total of 14 weekly winners will be awarded.
The cash prize amounts depend on the number of tickets sold. If we sell out of tickets, weekly cash prizes will total more than $650, and the top 10 overall team winners will receive between $75 and $1,000. Checks for each winning team will be sent by mail on a monthly basis.
The cost to participate is $25 per ticket or $100 for five tickets. Tickets may be purchased from a YMCA management team member or board member, or by contacting CEO Chad Knight at email@example.com.
- Your ticket is valid for the 17 weeks of the regular football season.
- Each ticket has three teams each week. These team scores added together determine winners.
- In cse of ties, prizes will be combined and split.
- Winners will be automatically notified by mail.
- No two tickets have the same three teams.
- Teams not playing a given week will be assigned the previous week's score.
