The YMCA of Southwest Kansas recently announced a partnership between the Garden City Family YMCA branch and Bad Boyz Boxing Club. The partnership brings a new fitness opportunity to the community with the creation of Boxercise.
Boxercise is a non-contact boxing class that aims to enhance cardiovascular health, improve total body strength, improve body composition, and decrease stress in its participants. Class is led by Bad Boyz Boxing Club owner Robert Gonzales. Gonzales is a certified boxing instructor with over 40 years of experience in the industry. He has trained multiple national and international boxing champions.
Boxercise is open to participants of all ages, though participants under 18 must have signed parental permission. Monthly class fees are $40 for members, and $80 for non-members/program participants. Class meets Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6:30 to 7:20 a.m., and from 5 to 5:50 p.m. at Bad Boyz Boxing Club, 601 Lake Avenue.
The YMCA also implemented a new Tabata class this month. Tabata is a form of high intensity interval training offering quick, 30 minute workouts. Monthly class fees are $30 for members, and $60 for non-members/program participants. Classes are offered at 5:30 a.m., 6 a.m., 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the YMCA gym.
