Dodge City branch to host inaugural Scholarship Golf Scramble

The Dodge City Family YMCA will host its inaugural Scholarship Golf Scramble on Friday, Aug. 11, at Mariah Hills Golf Course. All proceeds from the four-person scramble will benefit its Annual Support Campaign, which provides the community with financial assistance for programs and memberships.

Check in is at 8 a.m. on Aug. 11 with a shotgun start at 9. Cost is $75 per player, or $300 for a 4-person team. Fees include golf cart rental, green fees, range balls, and prizes based on participation, and all are tax deductible. Lunch will be provided to all participants. The Dodge City Family YMCA encourages interested parties register by Wednesday, Aug. 2.

“We are excited about this tournament,” Branch Executive Director Jackie Regan said. “We have some amazing prizes lined up, and local businesses have been really supportive with making it all possible.”

Par 3 hole-in-one prizes include $10,000 cash, a 7-day Carribbean cruise for two, a pair of round-trip airline tickets to anywhere in the continental United States and a Club Glove golf travel bag. The YMCA is currently collecting additional prizes, which will be listed and updated periodically on their Facebook page and website, ymcaswkansas.org.

In addition to prizes, the YMCA is also soliciting sponsors for the tournament. Sponsorships range from $100 as a hole sponsor, to $600 as a YMCA Corporate Gold Sponsor and include signage, golf scramble team entry, advertisement on the organization’s website, and banner recognition in the building’s gym.

“I want to be sure the community knows that the vast majority of the financial assistance we’re able to provide is because of our generous donors,” Regan said. “We couldn’t do it without them.”

In 2016 the Dodge City Family YMCA’s scholarship fund awarded over $134,0000 in program and membership fees. According to Regan, an increase in this year’s membership and programs offered by the local branch have led to an increased need for funding.

To register for the scramble, stop by the Dodge City Family YMCA at 240 San Jose. For inquires, or to sponsor the event, contact Jackie Regan at jregan@ymcaswkansas.org or 620-225-8157.
